Mr. O’Connor co-founded HighBrook in 2010 and plays an instrumental role in guiding the firm’s investment strategy and risk management.
Mr. O’Connor has more than 35 years of real estate and securities investment experience. Prior to HighBrook, he co–founded and was Senior Managing Partner of High Rise Capital Management, L.P., a real estate securities hedge fund manager which operated several strategies for over a decade. Mr. O’Connor previously served as Principal, Managing Director, Co-Portfolio Manager, and Investment Committee Member for long-only REIT investment manager European Investors Inc. (“EII”) and held several positions in the private real estate industry.
Mr. O’Connor has extensive corporate governance experience, currently serving on the Boards of Directors of several NYSE listed REITs, and having formerly served as a Director of Songbird Estates PLC (the publicly traded stakeholder of London’s Canary Wharf). In addition, he has significant asset allocation and investing experience, serving on the Investment/Endowment Committees of numerous institutions and family offices.
Mr. O’Connor is a National Trustee of the PGA of America REACH Foundation, and for two decades served on the Executive Committee of the Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. O’Connor earned a bachelor’s degree from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, and an MS in Real Estate Development & Investment from New York University.
