Mr. O’Connor is the Co-Founder and Co–Chairman of HighBrook. Previously, Mr. O’Connor co–founded High Rise Capital Management (“High Rise”) in 2001, a preeminent long/short real estate securities investment manager that produced superior risk-adjusted returns until their peak ($1.5 billion) liquidation in 2011. Today, High Rise serves as a single family office focused on investments in real estate, including its interests in HighBrook. Mr. O’Connor has nearly 30 years of real estate and securities investment experience, with particular expertise in hedging and risk management. Previously, Mr. O’Connor served in both the real estate and securities industries, including as Principal, Managing Director, Co-Portfolio Manager, and Investment Committee Member for long-only REIT manager European Investors Inc. (“EII”), as well as several previous positions in the private real estate industry.
Mr. O’Connor earned a BS from Boston College and an MS in Real Estate Development and Investment from New York University. Further, he serves on the Executive Committee of the Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania; the Board of Trustees and the Investment & Endowment Committee of Boston College; the Investment Committee of Teachers College, Columbia University; and is a National Trustee of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America. He also serves as a Corporate Director on the Boards of three NYSE listed REITs; Regency Centers, Inc., Paramount Group, Inc., as well as Prologis, Inc.
Mr. O’Connor serves as the Co-Chairman of HighBrook, as well as the Chairman of the Investment and Risk Management Committees and serves on the Executive Committee.
